MeTatie, who was employed 1 >y Elder Dodd, one of the arrested men, was gaoled and eharged with st ealing three saddles. Dodd obtained McTat ie 's release by paving the court costs and withdravving tlie charges, after which MeTatie disappeared. He is alleged to liave been whipped to death. The body was found floating near Indianola. At Hattiesburg, the Mayor annouuced Ihe arrest of a deputy sherrill' eharged with the murder of a negro aged 37, the father of JO children.
