■ WELLINGTON, July 30 The establishment of a Couipensation j Oourt in eaeli of tlie four inain eentres of New Zealand, to take tlie place of ; Peusions Boards, is part of a scheme [ whicli is to be urged 011 the Govern I ment by the conference in Wellington • of ex-servieemen 's organisations. The j Kcheme wliich was decided on by the conference today, calls for the Peusions Act to be replaced and a new- War (Jompensatiou Act to be sumbitted. It was said tliat seven years of operations of the present Act conclusively proved it was inadequate to compensate ! justlv servicenien for war injuries. The 1 proposed new Act would provide for a t'onipensation Court consisting of a ' Judge of the Supreme Court or senior j Magistrate, aud two assessors, one of I wliom would be the appointee of the ' Uoverinnent aud tlie other of the ex- ' servicenien 's association. Appeal C'ourts would be estabiished. A 100 per cent. disability would be : assessed at the miiiiinum basic wage j plus any cost of living boriuses, free of tax. War widows' coinpensatioii would be assessed at the same rato.
