Received Tuesday, 9.10 p.m. JERU1SALBM, July 30. British troops and Palestine police early this morning began a round-up in Tel Aviv, of 3O00 Jews, men and Avomen, in an ell'ort to find the terrorists responsible for the hotei bomb, states the Associated Press correspondent. The operation at Tel Aviv, is officially described as the detention of all known and sngpected members of the Irgun Svai Leumi and Stern gang. Troops, before they began arrests, clapped down a curfew 011 the city, and it will be continued for an undiselosed period. However, it will be lifted for two hours daily to enable residents to buy supplies. Sir Alan Cunningham, broadeasting 011 his return from a ltriel' visit to London, said there was clear evidenee some, if tiot all, oi the terrorists responsilile for tlie lioinb outrag'e came from Tel Aviv. Renter's correspondent at Jerusalem says the Sixth Airliorne Division is carrying out operations wliieh are 011 the samc scale tts the big round-up on Jiuic 29. Tel Aviv is under stricter control than ever before. The British Army established roadblocks at oxits I'rom the city and the Jcwish Poli'ee have been ordered to remain in their homcs until sent for. The troops have been ordered to shoot 011 sigbt any persons breaking the curfew. '"I wisli to make it cloar that the military operations procood • tng in the Tel Aviv area have as their objcc.t the soarch for terrorists and are the direct result of the vile and horrible crime committod on July 22," stated Sir Alan Cunningham. "It has been my earnest wisli when military action was forced on us, that we should inter fero as 1 it tio as possible with the normal life of the country. The romody is plain to ■see. If violence is eschewed, the normal oecupations will take no ltarm and endeavours for the betterment of Palestine can continue in peace. I would rcmind all the people of Palestine of the great and nrgont necd to find a solution of the Palestine problcm. Discussions are to be field with both Arabs and Jews. Violence can only make the task longer and more difficult, if not impossible. "It rnust he evident to all t'ightminded persons that mere protcsts are insufficicnt to wipo ont the stains of this sliameful and barbarous crime. No movement of a terrorist char•icter would have a chanco of snrvivnl against the wishes of ihe pooiilo wherefrom it springs. Tt lios with the Jewish people whether they will help or hindon Ihe rooting oiit of the canker which. if it remains, can only reeoil against thom."
