WELLINGTON, July 29. A sehcme for development and reconstructiou in the Otago coastal areas, is gazetted tonight. Tlie naturo of the work is on similar Jiiies to tlie scheme for Central Otago announced some time ago. Land development in cludes tlie development of a new coal work and land drainage. Industry in cludes teh development of a new eoalmine and, under commercial, a new milk treatment plant for Dunedin is proposed. A considerable amount of work 011 highways in the area and im provement to tlie railway is-listed; also improvement of airstrips and harbours. For the electric supplv, the further development of water power at Waipoun is proposed. There are proposals for subdivision of land and improved social services, the latter ineluding additional buildings and wings at the Otago Uni versity, interrnediate schools for Dunedin North and the liill suburbs iri Dlinediu, domestic science wing at Iving Edward .Tqchnical College, the.vephace ment of. ;seyerai prin^Sry 'seliopls^a. new Inoadeastiug 'sfudio "at Duifhdin, and new t-epid batlis for that city. Notice of a similar scheme for tlu* Waitaki basin is also gazetted. This scheme includes further construction of hydro-elcctric generating works and tlie extension of transmission lines. There is also xiroposed improvements to schools ineluding additions to Waitaki Boys' and Girls' High Schools.
