GREYMOUTH, July 29. A launeh from Greymouth was wrecked on Cobden beaeh late tonight. There were believed to be two men on it but no traee of them had been found at 11.30 p.m. The launeh was owned by Mr. Allan Wright Dueker, single, aged about 29, a triicker at the Liverpool mine. It is believed he and a eouipanion to whom he was thinking of selling the launeh, went to try it out. The signalman saw tlie launeh eross the bar about 9 p.m. A verv liigh sea was running and after erossing the bar it appeared to be in diifieulties and was drifting liortliward into the lieavy surf off Cobden beaeh about a mile from the river moiith. The signalman reported to tlie police who sent a patrol to the beaeh. Debris from the launeh was washed up and eventually the launeh was secured 011 the beaeh. A eoat was found, apparentlv belonging to Dueker. The launeh was of the 22 feet cabin tvpe which Duclcer likd bought and rebuilt.
