WELTJ XGTOX, July 2(5. Provision for tlie control of the. sale of stoek foods is conlaiiied in the. HtOek Eoods Bill, which was inlrodueed in the ITouse of Representatives today by Ihe Minister of Agriculture (Mr. B. i Roberts). He ex])laitietl that. the Bill was designed to proleel farmevs by en- ' spring that they knew Ihe food value of : any stock food they purchased. The 'Bill was read a seeond time pro forma and referred to the Agricultural and Pastoral (lomnnttee. Mr. Roberts said that the farmer i Was entitled .to know jnst whai he Was bnying in the Way of stock foods, and the perceittages of protein, carbohydrates, etc., that they conrained. A somewhat siinilar practiee. was fol lowed with ferfiliscrs, which had the ingredients marked 011 the liag. The Bill had t.lie support. of the Farmers' Union, the Eedefaled Farmers, the Poultry Board and tlie Xational Pig Indnstry Uouncil. He was sure it would have the suppoft of farmer? geherall.V, while tlie merchants also agreed that such a Bill was desirable. The Bill provides that invoices for the sale of stock foods shall Contain the names of tlie ingredients. It is an offence to sell stock foods not of the prescribed standard, or containiilg injurious ingredients. ]
