The games throughout were keenlv contested and, as the scores indicated, teams were evenly matched. The Jinal was fought out by Boutheru Hawke's Bay and Manawatu, the former team securing. a well-deserved Avin by three points to nil. Although they had a disadvantage in w eight, Bouthem Hawke's Bay were too speedy in the open and gained their advantage with au unconv-erted trv early in the first spell. Manawatu yvpre unlucky, as the tinal whistle wiint just as they were on the verge of crossing their oppoiient's line. A liandsome trophy donated by Mr. ' G. Looney was presented to the winning team at a hincheoii after the tourna ment. Kesults of tlie draw were: — First round: Soutliern Hawke's Bay 5 heat Wairoa 0; Wairarapa G beat Wanganui 0; Manawatu aiul Jlorowhenua u bye. Becond round: Manawatu 3 beat Horowhenua 0; Soutliern Hawke's Bay S beat Wairarapa 3. Final: Soutliern llawke's Bay 3 beat Manawatu 0. In a ehallenge mateh Ataflborougli 3 drew with Horowhenua 3. The referees were Messrs. R. Young and A. Gordon.
