British Plans In Palestine

Received Friday, 10.15 a.m. LONDON, July 25. ^British Staff officers in what r. mains of their headquarters in the King David Hotel are working out plans for the biggest drive yet against the terrorists, which is expected to commence hourly. The Daily Express Jerusalem correspondent says this will in effect be an open declaration of war backed by the fullest force of two and a half divisions against the 80,000 terrorists. It is officially announced that the latest casualties in the bomb outrage are 66 killed, 55 missing and 47 injured. Relays of Royal Engineers attached to the 6th Airborne Division are still searching the great pile of rubble for survivors, but doctors now believe it impossible for anybody to be still alive. Since 10 p.m. last night, when Mr. D. C. Thompson, Assistant Chief Secretary to the Palestine Government, was brought out, there has been no response to the searchers, wno, while the tremendous clatter of cranes and drills is hushed, are calling out for anyone able to speak. Mr. Thompson was to-night reported to be in a serious condition. It is authoritatively stated, says the diplomatic correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, that the British Government has no objection Lo the Palestine question being raised at • the next General Assembly of the United Nations. The Governments of Egypt and Iraq ini'ormed Britain that the matter would be raised.
