NEW WELLINGTON CATHEDRAL
PREVIEW OF REGENT TIIEATRE'S FILM The Mayor (Mr. H. B. Burdekin), the Rev. G. B. Stote-Blandy, and members of St. Mary's Anglican Church were present at the Regent Theatre this morning to see a preview of a film made by the National Unit to promote the Wellington Cathedral Fund. The film depicted, with excellent photography, how the city of Wellington is growing, arid the obvious
necessity for a new cathedral. As the film shows so convincingly, the old building is now completely out of harmony with the many fine modern structures in and around che city. Some of the sdenes of the waterfront, and the view of the city from the hills, are in themselves outstanding. The film concluded with scenes of a large scale model of the new cathedral, one by night, with lights showing in the windows. With well-chosen background music, this scene is partieularly effective. The. Mayor of Wellington and the Bishop-. of Wellington appear in the'finkl stage of ihe film, to appea'l for support for che fund. The film will be showing ' to the public to-night and tomorrow night.
