The total number of troops to sail is 2564 comprising 1206 from Papakura, 1005 from Burnham and 353 from the Army School, Trentham. The officer commanding the troops will be Lieut.-Colonel V. J. Innes, New Zealand Staff Corps. Back to Their Owners Of 9154 pairs of binoculars received by the Army by way of loan or gift, 8264 have been returned to their original owners, accoraing to the annual report of the Chief of the General Staff, tabled in the House of Representatives. A total of 23,604 rifles, it is stated, was received by the Army under the regulations governing impressment, and of this number 22,793 have been returned to their original owners, or, where it has not been possible to return the rifle through loss or conversion, the owner has been paid compensation. The difficulty of the business man was that if he ran after money he was considered to be money-mad; if he did not make it he was a ne'er-do-well; if he did not try to make it he lacked ambition; if he saved it up he was a capitalist; if he spent it he was a playboy; if he ' got it without working he was a parasite; if he aceumulated it after a lifetime of hard work he was a fool who never got anything out of life.
