FORGOT TO TURN OFF GAS

AUCKLAND, July 24. A nian who had apparently faiten asleep without turning off the gas rmg in his apartinent after the .supply had been cut off by the Gas Coinpany, was found dead in his room in the city on Tuesday night. He was William i'atrick Fennell, aged 49, married. When it was noticed that Fennell had not coilectei iiis morning's milk, one of the other boarders in the house went to deeeased's window which was open about one and a-half inches and noticed a strong smell of gas. Fennell was found lying on his bed with an open book besidc him. The gas ring in the room, the door of which was locked,. was turned full on. Fennell practised for some time as a barrister and solicitor at Hawera. His wife and two children are residing | at Paeroa.
