NEW MANUFACTURES
OVERSEAS COMPANIES DECIDE ON AUSTRALIA Received Wednesday, 7 p.m. MELBOURNE, July 24. Twenty-nine companies had decided to invest overseas capital in Australia, said the Miiiister of Reconstruction, Mr. Dedman. The British capital would total about £4,000,000 and American £2,500,000. The products of the new companies would include motor car parts, artificial silk and wool fabrics, footwear and clothing, elastic wear, engineering products, pharmaceutical goods, docks,, electrical household appliances, dental equipment, carpets, razor blades, bitumen and tnotor fuel oil, and auto servicing equipment. Thirteen companies would provide capital from Britain, fourteen from United States, one from Canada and another from both America and Britain. Other companies who had made tentative inquiries included manufacturers of fountain pens, textiles, optical gc-ods, plastic toys, p,erfumery, motor cars, trucks and tractors.
