AVERAGE WEEKLY WAGES Following the half-yearly return of_ employment (information) survey as-at April 15, . 194.6*, which has been recently QQtoplet^^; th,e dis trict enipld^eriS L^W. Cozens, is!how able7fo 'shpply rplative wage data. This data is given in iour groups and attention is drawn to the fact that the figures include part-time workers, juveniles and working proprietors (but not professional men) , and averages are effected accordingly. The figures for all Government departments in each respective group are included in the totals. Group 1. — All manufacturing industries, including engineering, motor trades, radio servicing, cycle repair shops, etc. : Average weekly wage payout in April, 1946. £6 8s 6d (male), £3 12s 6d (female) ; total weekly wage payout. £14,551 (male) , £2902 (female) .
Group 2. — The building and construction industry and all primary industries surveyed, including mining, bush sawmilling, quarrying, etc-. (Note: Farming and allied seasonal industries have not been surveyed) : Average weekly wage payout/in April, 1946, £6 4s ld (male), £3 los 8d (female) ;. total weekly wage payout, £8,759 14s lld(male). £129 4s (female). Group 3. — All wholesale and retail trades, finance, insurance and other agencies: Average weekly wage payout in April. 1946, £7 19s 8d (male), £3 10s lld (female) ; total weekly wage payout, £12,664 4s. 8d (male) , £3968 18s (female). • Group 4.- — All other industries and services not elsewhere included: Average weekly wage payout in April, 1946, £6 13.s lOd (male), £3 16s 7d (female); total weekly wage payout, £28,491 7s 8d (male), £8582 19s 2d (female).
