. Received TUesdav, 7 p.m. LONDON, July 22. ! The Rresident, l)r. R. Newton Flew at the rssunied Methodist Conference at . Wfestmiiuster, referred to the state-j ment made by a speaker of the eonl'er-j ence, reported by the Rress and broad- 1 -ast by tlie B.B.C., that the MethodistChurch was slowly (lying. Dr. Flew saidthat in an eartier presidential address, | lie showed that the church had been advaueiiig- thronghout the world and tlie two biggest denoniinations apart from Ihe Roman Catholic .Church, were the Baptists and Alethodists. One speech, made last week showed many o.onverts' had been added to tlie chnreh overseas nnd immense advanees made even in, wartime, but apparentlv that was not news. How did it happen tliat wlien anybocly dropped a sentence about Methodism failing, it was news but when it was a matter of Methodism advaneing, it was not news just because it happened overseas? The church, thank God, was an international society. , Delegates applauded and agreed that Dr. Flew 's remonstrance sliould be c-onveyed to the B.B.C.
