Levin members of the contingent 'travelled from Wellington by a special train which reached Levin jshortly after 1.15 p.m., and there was a large crowd of relatives and friends at the railway station to greet them. Most of the men had seen \actiVe service in the Mediterranean theatre, and were transferred to Japan 011 the cessation of hostilities for occupational duty pending the formation of J-Force. The train brought eight men for Levin and district, and they were warmly welcomed by relatives and friends. The Mayor (Mr. H. B. Burdekin) , who had made the usual efflcient arrangemeoits for conveying next-of-kin without cars to the station and then home again, welcomed each serviceman with a few words.
