WELLINGTON, July 22. In Parliament today during formal business, ITon. A. H. Nordmeyer, answcring a question- by Mr. Sutherland (TTauraki), said somo time ago the Government decided to set aside a certain sum for the. relicf of local authorities in connection with hospital rates, especially: .w.lrcre the ratcs appcared unjuly high. The estimatcs of (he various Tlosjiital Boards had now been examined and the Government decision lutd lieon made- concerning ihe surns to be granted t.o individual areas. An announcement would be made tomorrow. Mr. Stitherlftnd had asked the Minis-. 1er the nature and extent of a subsidy to be paid the Greymouth Borough Couiicii in resptjet, of hospital rating. Mr. Sutherland said it had been reported that the Membor for Westland had approaclied Ihe Prime IMinister and Minister of Health and had been informed that a substantial subsidy on hospital rates would he paid to the Greymouth Borough Council. Srr. Sutherland 's comment on tlie] Minister 's answer was that. it appeared that every district would qualify forl assistance.
