ALOIxI-'A-lN JJ, J uly - i. | in easily the brightest and nrost open exhibition of rugby seen in Auckland for a iong time, the Kiwi touring team played a drawn game agaiust Auckland representatives at Eden Park on Saturday, each side scoring 20 points. Auckland 's total was made up of live tries (one converted) and a penalty goal to the Kiwis' two converted tries, i two penalty goals and a potted goal. The Kiwis led at half time by 13 points to 11. i The match was played in brilliant sunshine, the ground being a little soft after the heavy rain duriiig the veek. There was an attendan.ee estimated at j 35,000. ! The rcsult was a happy ending to a 1 most enjoyable match t'or both players and spectators. Although Auckland scored ino-re tries tlian the Kiwis, the latter could be cousidered a little unluckv. Some of thc rulings of the referee, Mr. A. Lazarus, King Country, were hard to follow. . In the seconii spell J. Finlay, the Iviwis' vice-captain and breakaway forward, appeared to score by the posts after coining from behind in a iine forward moveineut. Tlie ofticial in charge, however, rule.il: a scrum. A Kiwi forward came through with the ball at his feet in the loose but was penalised and Sorenson kicked « penalty goal. Then in clearing a kick from his own goal line, Tetzlaff attempted to finil the line which he failed to do.
