RED CROSS SOCIETY
LEVIN BRANCH S MEETING There was a very good attendance at the usual monthly meeting of the Levin branch of the Red Cross Society. Miss H. E: Bowenpresided. A number of apoiogies for absence were received. The roll call was again a subject of discussion, and an arrangement was made whereby it is hoped to doubfe t}ie membership by the next meeting. Mrs. R.' A. Macdonald . gave an account of 'a visit to the Palmerston North Hospital, where gifts of flowers and fruit were distributed to the patients. Mrs. Fraser, who conducted the visit, was thanked for doing so. The president of the sewirrg guild, Mrs. Wilson, asked that (the public be made aware of "the necessity for a future supply of second-hand clothing, to be repaired and re-modelled, and sent overseas. The guild had no such garments at present. The guild also reported that- 290 garments and seven food parcels for Britain had been sent to headquarters during May and June. Miss Bowen praised the work of the guild, and asked members to assist it. Miss Beretti, secretary of the Women's Club, advised that 125 gifts had' been presented to returned servicemen this year, which had been greatly appreciated. The meeting closed with the serving of afternoon tea by Mesdames Kehoe and Wilson.
