CHRISTCHURCH, July 14. The inter-Island Association football match played at Lancaster Park yesterday, eiuled in a draw, three goals each. It was the lirst inter-lsland match in 13 vears and tlie fourth ever played. Thero was an attendauce of about SD00. The weather was fme and the ground in good order. Wliile the South Islanders had rather the better of play, solid defeuce by North lsland backs frustrated most ot their tfforts to score, wliile a couple of goals were disallowed for offside plaj. When North lsland forwards got control of the ball they were always dangerous. Tlie 'lirst goal carne when North were hemmed in and P. Ryahj Otago, inside right, found the net. Tlien a corner taken by Robinson landed well out in tlie lield aud Hodgson sent in a long range sli'ot to score North 's lirst goal. Before long North were again hemmed in for (1. Sinith to net. South 2, North 1. Tlien came the prettiest move of the game as Wijkinson, North lsland centre forward, went througli on his own • to cqualise the score. North went into the lead sooa after when Robinson found the corner of the net. Scores were evened up bj It. Smith just before half-time. The second half was fast and good football was see'n. One North Islaud goal was disallowed and the game ended with the scores even at three all.
