"With the opening of the new dairying seasdn, it is felt that there will be a oonsiderable demand for labour, " it eontinues. "It is hoped that iL will prove an excellent opportunity for farmers to engage ex-servicemen under the subsidy sclieine and train them so that they may gain enough competency to taho over farms of their own." Of the 476 trainees awaiting plaeement, 266 are for dairying, 97 for slieep farming, 44 for mixed sheep and dairying, 41 for sheep and agriculture, 1 for agriculture, and 27 for sub.sidiary forms of farming such as poultry-farming, bee-keeping, elc. The iieeds in this district are: — Dannevirke, 9 dairy, 9 sheep, 1 subsidiary, total 19; ralinerston North, 8 dairy, 3 sheep, 2 mixed, 1 sheep' and agriculture, total 14.
