BETTING CASE BEFORE COURT

LONDON, July 11. Bookmakers, British Turf eommission agents, and professional baekers are taking a sudden interest in the law. Tliey have crowded into Bow 'Street Court to listen to a betting case involving £91,000, in which an Act that has not been debated for 100 yehrs is figuring. A foreigner, Eeuben Yager, living in London, was charged with attempting to win by fraud in wagering the sum mentioned from Kirsh, Ltd., Turf eommission agents. It was stated that in one week he lost £41,474 to three firms of bookmakers. A summons against Yager was issued by Mr. Barnet Cohen, one of Kirsh 's partners. Tho case is proceeding. Yager was ordered to surrendel' his' passport.
