SATURDAY MORNING FIRE

At about 10 a.m. on Saturday, due to hot ashes being emptied against a close slab fence by which was stacked several cords of wood, a fire started and was quickly fanned to a blaze by the easterly '• wind blowing. The fence was alight for several feet, and also the very high stack of wood, and it was only by the prompt action of several neighbours in the vicinity in forming a bucket brigade that kept the blaze from an outhouse and shed only a few feet away. After an hour's strenuous work they were lucky to extinguish the blaze. The fire occurred on the property of Mr. K. Woodmass, situated down the lane off Vance Street.
