MORE COMFORTABLE TRAIN SEATING

— Prp.sa A fmnninfonri

Ri/ Tpl.p.nmrtTi ~

WELLINGTON, July 9. The new first and second class seating for New Zealand trains was sliown at Petone railway workshops today. The second class type revolves like the present first class and has a dividing arm in a two-seat unit. The new revolving meehanism permits the seat to be pulled away from the wall of the carriage before reversing so that a greater seat depth is possible. There is more footl'oom beneath the seats and long legged passengers will be able to dispense with the footrests and place their ieet under the seat in front. • First class seats have approximately 14 different slopes of the back instead of four. Their tray units have supports entirely independent of the seat back when pulled out. The designs will' be tested on the Main Trunk before being finally adopted.
