annual meeting held i There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting pf the Levin Croquet Club which was held in the Oddfellows' Hall recently. In her report • to the club, the retiring preLident, Mrs. D. M- BuJl said:— "The cfflcial opening was held on- October 17 and Wenham deputised in my absenee. -The lawns were opened by our patron, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, and Mrs. Buirdekin, who played the first ball, was presented with a • posy.. Thjs year on opening day we had a sta|l and the proceeds wertt towards paying for the motor mbwer- Thfs . mower has ' proved a groat asset, both to the club and caretaker, and the lawns have been in expellent order all through the seasoil. Mud^way for the interest she has taken in the beginners, and for presenfc.ing trophies for them. \ "The honorary members' dify was held in February and we were favoured with a beautiful day. We are always indebted to our honorary members, whose subscriptions' help our funds. We regret having to record thc death of one of our honorary members and supporters, Mrs. Morris, of Weraroa. Our secIretary, Mrs. Gilmour, faso suffered | bereavement in the loss of her hus- ! band. "The all day tournaments were held as usual and with few exceptions the members all enjoyed these happy days. The Brown but'tons still continue to be the most played for of the club trophies. We hope to see the Worsfold ,badges played for each week and also that the ladder star comes into\ the limelight again. We were just a

iittle unlucky in not wmnmg \tne Sherwood Cup, only losing it by a few points. We congratulate our sister club at Manakau on doizjg the "hat-trick" and winning it chree times in succession. We have won ths banner for inter-club play and since the banner has been in existence for 20 years this is the only time our name has appeared on it. "We closed our lawns with regret on April 24, when trophies for the year were presented by the president. The Sherwood Cup was presented to the captain of the Manakau Club by the donor, Mrs. C. Sherwood. The president also made a smail presentation on behalf of the members to the secretary, Mrs. Gilmour. Trophy winners were:. — Sherwood Cup: Manakau Club; h.uiner-up, Levin Club. Kirk Cup: Mrs. Pine; runner-up, Mrs, Holdaway. All day tourney: A grade, Mrs. Fraser; B grade, Mrs. Gilmour. Brown buttons: A grade, Mrs. Pine; B grade, Mrs. Dalzell. Ladder star: Mrs. Bagrie. Worsfield badges: Mesdames Palmer j and Weston." The president then thanked I Mesdames Suhan, Pine and- Demp- ' sey and Messrs. A. Mudgway, Wen- ] ham, H. Nicholson, Telford, W. ; Bagrie, Boulton, G. Hocking, LemI mon, Scott, F. Nicholson and i Fraser for assistance given to the club throughout the year. The election of officers resulted as follows: — Patron: Mr. H. B. Burdekin; president: Mrs. W. Bull; vice-presidents : Mesdames Powell and Holdaway; honorary vicepresidents : i Mesdames Suhan, Sherwood and Lettj secretary: Mrs. J. O.
