' Mr. W. A. S. Newlands, of the Palmerston North City Council. was appointed accountant to thp Masterton Borough Council at a meeting of that body last night. [ The sitting member, Mr. J. N. Massey, has been chosen as the official National Party candidate for the Franklin electorate. There were two other nominees. Mr. J. E, Vogel. of Lower Hutt, has been selected as the National Party candidate for Hutt. There were two other nominees. Mr, Vogel is a grandson of the late Sir Julius Vogel.
