Received Mondav, 7 p.m. LOXDOX, July S. When Hon. W. Xash met Sir Stafford Oripps he discussed the supply of steel to tlie Dominion. The steel trade in Britain is passing through a difTicult phase but Mr. Xasli empliasised the Dominion 's imperative need for steel botli for general manufacture and supplying foodstuffs. During a visit to Leicester, Air. Xash was given a civic reception. He talked with manufacturers and visited plants for making typewriters and tubes. ^ Oommenting on ltis visit to Britain which began with the conference of Commonwealth Prime iMinisters, -Mr. Xash said: "I was impressed by the way British manufacturers are getting dowp t0 production,. ' W.hile prie.es of some eonmiQ'dities are higlL-it looks as thongli the outpnt is reaching prewar volume and in some cases exceeding it.. If the present drive and policy continues, it appears that the objective of exporting 75 per cent. more than prewar may be realised at a reasonably earlv date."
