The Tramways Board is spending nearly £1,000,000 in the next three years in the ' development and reconstruction of the ; tramwqy system. Tliree lce'y men are being. sent to America to study latest developments iu tram design. The Board claims trams are eheaper than buses to run and carry mofe pas-' seugers and sliift crowds quicker. The annual revenue of a tram is about £12,000 a mile compared witli £5000 a mile for a bus. The New South Wales Government has ealled tCnders for an additional 200 double-decker buses for the Sydney metropolitan area, making a total of 445 now on order.
