DEATH OF SIAM'S KING
Reeeived Fridav, 7 p.m. BANCfKOK, July 4. A commission of inquirv into the death of King Ananda of >Siam, who was found dead from a bullet wound in tlie head, lias reeeived Royal permission to qucstion King Phumiphon and the Queen Xlother. Previous testimonv showed that the Queen Xrother was called immediately after tlie fatal shot was fired. A Royal page testiliecl that she saw the body and then said to King Phumiphon, " Let us take our lives also. " The page then said he hid the p'istols and other guns wliich were m the Royal ehamber."to protect the Queen Xlother from killing herself. "
Accidents cost 142 lives while millions of Americans were eelebrating the Fourtli of July. A tabulation showed that (55 died from traffic accidents, 42 were drowned and M5 perished from nnscellaueous mishaps. XTayo Clinie doctors, Herman Young and Ralph Ghormlev, told tlie American Xledical Association that one-fourth of all persons killed in occupational accidents in United States in 1944 were farmers. The deaths and injuries in agriculture were appalling yet little was done to prevent accidents. Falls from farm machinery were the most frequent type.
