SURPRISE AT PRESIDENT'S ANNOUNCEMENT

President Truman's announce ment that the United States wa willing to arrange to pay for th transport of 100,000 Jews in Europ to Palestine has not yet been offi cially communicated to the Brhisi Government. There is no officia comment, but, says the Presi Association, there is, unofficially surprise that President Trumar should ha.ve said what he did whil the Palestine negotiations were no completed. Transport does no represent a problem, as it hat alwayj been understood tha America was providing it. The Press Association adds that the Jews certainly will ngt go unti Britain arranges that they may enter.
