AUCKLAND- July 2. Ai'ter Several days of uncer* tainty duriug which the departure time from Auckland for Sydney and iSa.ii Francisco of the Matson liner Mariposa depended on the settlement of negotiations on the contract for the supply of 10,000,000 lbs. of butter to the United States, a decision was reached tonight wlien tlie Auckland agents aniibunced that the Mariposa will now remain at Auckland imtil Fridny to enable her to load 16,000 cases of butter. Tlie Mariposa nrrived from San, Francisco tonight.
Ai'ter a conference with the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. B. Roberts, the Prime Minister said the butter would detinitely ■ be loaded in tlie Mariposa. He added that he was not in a position to givc any details of the price at which tlie butter is being sold to America: A total. of 8.96,000 lbs. of butter will be carried by the American liner. The butter will be consigned to the United States quartermaster at San Francisco who will forward it to American troops serving throughout the Pacifie.
This is not the first -peacetime shipment to leave the Dominion. Before the wai' a fairly large quantity of produce was carried among the ship's storcs of eaeh visiting Matson liner.
