DEATH FOLLOWS ACCIDENT
Tlie death occurred yesterday at Hastings of Mr. Francis Kayinond Coleiiuui, aged 39 vears, railway employee, oi Pakipaki, foliowiug serious injuries reeeived ulieu hu was knocked olf a liif-ycle as the result of a collision with a car driven with Alexander Porete, of Feilding, iu the vicinity of the Longlands dip on ihe Napier-Palmer-ston Nortli highway. The accident occurred on Friday night, Coleman sufiering layerations to the head, a broken arai and broken ribs. At the tixne of tlie accident it was raining heavilv and 31 r. Poleuian was carrying an unibrella. Yisibilily was very Jimitod. The injured xuau was takou to hospital but l'uiled to rally. 31r. Colexuan was well knowu in J'alxncrston North. wliere, as an ofiiciaJ of tlie Post and Telegraph Department, he was sub-district Oil Fuel Controller uulil about a year ago. A passenger in the car, 3ir. J. King. reeeived head injuries as a result of coxning into coutact with the windscreeu. lie w'as treated as an out])ulient.
