3 \ SYDNEY, June 2R. Sir George Julins, aged 73, former ohairnian ol? tlie Council oi: Rcicntine and Industrial "Researcli, and a vvellknown consulting ehgineer and scieutist, died in tlie Sydney suburb of Killara todav.
Born at Norwicli, England, eldest son I of Arrhbisliop Julius, of GliristHiurcn, i New Zealand, he is survived by his wife and two sons. Tlie work for whieh he is most popularlv known is the invention of the automatie totalisator. _ Ile retired as chairman of the Council of Scientifie and Industrial Research last December after two years in office, biu remained a partner of the Sydney eugineering firm of whieh he was founder, and a difector of Imperial Chemical Industries. He was ~ knighted in 1929 principally for his outstanding work with the Anstralian National Research.
Council of which he was a former president. Sir George wrote widelv on Australian engineering and economie problems, the furthering of Australian research and development of industries.
