AMERICA WARNED OF ATTACK DANGER
W AHH1N GTON, June 29. America has been warned tliat the danger of atomic atlack is real and preparalions to meet it should be made without delay. Tlie waniiug is contained in the report of tlie United States Strategic Bombing Survey established by the late President Roosevelt and eontinued by President Truman. The report proposes a far reaching plan for defence against atomic attack. It recommends disper.sal, concealnient, protection and coiistant readiness of all military forces so tliat no single blow or series of blows could cripple ability to iight back. Dealing with the two atom bombs dropped on Japan, tlie report says tliat despite the awesome power oi' atomic bombs, tliere are limits of which wise planning can take advantage. Damage could be redueed by eliminating conibustible materials from buildings, using masonry for partitions and avoiding tlie use of glass tiles, latlies and plast#r. The report s warned Ihe necessity of dispersal of indispensable niaterials. The manufaetnre of essentials should not be confined to a few centralised plants.
