SHANNON FIRE BRIGADE
: : — ♦ — ~ MEETING AND SOCIAL At the recent fortnightly meeting of the Shannon Volunteer Fire Brigade a letter was received from the Railways Department thanking the brigade for their services in extinguisliing a fire on railway property, and enclosing -a donation towards brigade expenses. • After the meeting six members of the brigade journeyed to Mangaore, where they were entertained by the social club there in a delightful billiard and card evening. Mangaore proved the victors in the billiard competitions although some very close games were played. - This is the flrst social gathering of its kind to be held for manv montlis, and members of the brigade spent a most enjoyable evening. It is hoped that these gatherings can be held more often, and it is a pity more of the local firemen did not take the opportunity to avaii themselves of the eiitertainment.
