MOUTOA YOUNG FARMERS'
RECENTL Y -FORMED CLUB A further link in the chain of Young Farmers' Clubs throughout New Zealand was formed recently when a number of Moutoa's young farmers gathered in the Moutoa Hall and decided to form a club. The attendance was not large at the first meeting, but has since ; grown quite well, and new members I are coming along to each meeting. | At one of the earlier meetings Mr. Chamberlain and Mr. Lithgow j addressed members on the subject. 1 of running the club and matters of | interest to young farmers. On : Monday, May 27, Mr. Chamberlain . brought his film unit down and i some very interesting films were ; screened. | A programme of lectures has been : drawn up and one will be given j each month. Some of the topics i which will be discussed in the' near , future are "Mamitis and Stock ! Diseases" by Professor Webster, of i Massey College, and "Grassland I Problems" by Mr. B. Levy, also of 'Massey College; ..a debate will be , given by members of the PalmersI ton Norfch Debating Society. A [lecture on catchment board rating : will be given by Mr. F. S. Opie, of : Palmerston North, and Mr. G. V. j Frazer, of Foxton, will discuss farm ^accountancy with members. t The young men held a very interf esting field day at Messrs. Moynihan Bros.' piggeries on May 25. On j ■ he social side, the club has decided • to enter a seven-a-side football | team in the Manawatu competitions, and at a recent meeting it was agreed that a social evening should be held in order to provide the inevitable funds so necessary , in keeping an organisation on a : sound footing. The Moutoa branch | of the W.D.F.U. has come to the aid I of the young farmers with sugges- ! fions and general help in this direclion. Quite a number of the older farmcrs are assisting the young men in an adv'isory capacity and the present officers of the club arr Mr. D. W. Williams (president) and Mr. B. O. Barber (secretarytreasurer). The reporter is Mr. D. Fuller, who has as his assistant Mr. A. Woodmass. The executive comt mitt»e is Messrs. D. W. Williams, P. | McErlean, B. O. Barber, B. Smith! and A. Smith. The senior presi-' d°nts are Messrs. G. Barber, N. Woodmass and W. Jellyman. Mr. G Barber has been appointed seniov advisory delegate on the- district committee. i At the June meeting of the club it was decided to meet in the Moutoa Hall once monthly at 8 j ; p.m. A letter of appreciation was : sent to Mr. Chamberlain for . his ! 1 interesting screening of motion j pictures.
