AUSTRALIA TO REDUCE TAXES ON INCOMES
CANBEREA, June 28. The Prime Minister (Mr. Chitley) ari nounced last night tliat a Bill to ell'ect tax reductions would be introduced before Parliament adjourned. The cuts' would be retrospective to July 1, but might not be applied until Septeniber because of priuting difficulties. It is learned officially that tlie- ro ductions will be 011 tho same scalc n> indicated yesterday when Cabincl approved adjustmeuts ranging from D per ecnt. on lower incomcs to 7 pier cent. on incomes of £3000 pier year. Tlie Govcrnment, however, has accepted tlie caucus alteration of tho niaximum permissible weckly earnings for old age ptensioners. Cabinet lixed tlie amouni at 17s 0d, but the caucus considered this should bc increased to £1. Tho property qualifieation is £050.-..
