DUNEDIN, J une 28. During the hearing of a farm case at the sitting of the Otago Land Saies Cominittee, Mr. EV J: Anderson, counsel for the purehaser, a returned servicpman, made another protest against the dual role played in such cases by the Grown valuer. Mr. Anderson, ijvhen chairman of the committee made frequent reference to the fact that in rarm cases in which a returned serviceman was involved, the budget submitted ,to the committee was preparec]l by the same officer of the State Advnnces Corporation who also made the valpation of the property concerned for tlie purposes of the rehabilitation loan. At the sitting of the committee yesterday, Mr. Anderson said that ns mortgagee, the State Advances Corporation naturally wanted to see the lowest possible vaiuation placed on the property, but there was a danger in tho present case tliat the returned serviceman, who was quite satisiied to pay the contract price, would lose it, " because of the absurd cutting down in value. ' ' Counsel contended tliat in such cases t.he Crown should obtain the services of an outside valuer.
