CHRISTCHURCH, June 28, An after sliock-of the severe eartliquake on Thurstjay morning was felf | in the eity at 7,14 o 'eloek tonight. The i shake, wiiieh was jn a north-westerly I to south-easterlv direction, lasted only j a t'ew seconds and no damage is reporp'ed. A meteorologieal official stated j that the shake was a natural aftennath i of tlie earlier quake and that more | tremors were possilile liet'ore the earth I at the seat of- the 'quake beeame settled. Reports from Lake Heron district, wliich is believed to )i.e tlie vieinity of the earthquake 's origin, show that many tremors have been' felt there since the main shake. Greymouth also rep'orts a further sharp earthquake of 15 to 20 seeonds' duration at 7.15 p.m. It stopped cloeks at the post office but no damage is reported. It was also felt at other West Coas't towns being, to the north, as ' severe as .yesterday 's iirst shock. | News of Thursday morning 's earthI quake apparently reaehed Britain quickly and in an exaggerated form. .
