Notice to Quit Houses Tenants of 17 houses and six shop buildings in Penrose Avenue, near Wellington Hospital, have received a month's notice to vacate their homes. The Wellington Hospital Board recently bought the land in order to modernise and extend its laundry. Asked if the hospital board woulc^ have to find the tenants alterriative accommodation, the chairman, Mr. H. F. Toogood, said it had made no plans to do this. The notice was a formal one and was the first'legal st'ep intirnating the board's intention of demolishing the houses to extend its buildings. Nothing would be done to disturb the tenants until the board was ready to start tlie work. Gver 50 people are likely to be aft'ected. Forty live-in the 17 houses, and the upper rooms ,df the shop buildings are all used as dwellings.
