?ersonal Mr. and Mrs. Gosling are spending a holiday at Rotorua. Miss Dulcie Oliver spent the week-end with her sister, Mrs. R. M. Phillips, of Poplar Road. Messrs. Ralph Wilton and Maurice Lambess are Opiki visitors to Auckland. Mr. John Percy, Junr., has returned from a holiday spent at Te Ore Ore, Masterton, where he was the guest of his aunt. Mr. C. Phillips, accompanied by Messrs. D. Kelly and L. Hunt, of Rangiotu, have returned home from a holiday spent in Auckland. Miss Gwen Bibblecombe is visiting Pohangina for Bob Passey's 21st birthday. The sympathy of the district is extended to Mrs. G. Larsen in the loss of her mother, Mrs. Seifert. -Mrs. Hill, of Rongotea, is thc guest of her daughter, Mrs. Harpham, of Poplar Road. Mr. and Mrs. Sid. Claridge entertained a number of friends at an evening to celebrate the cnristening of their son Qprdon. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Perry and family, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Phillips, Mrs. N. V. Eveleigh, Mr. V. Claridge, Mr, and Mrs. R. Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Hocking, Mr. G. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. I. Claridge, Misses M. Hocking and L. Phillips. Women's Institute The fourteenth birthday of the Opiki Women's Institute was celebrated in the Tokomaru Hall on June 8, when those present spent an enjoyable evening dancing and playing cards. The birthday cake was cut with the usual ceremony. Mrs. Gregory and Miss A. Claridge, the oldest and youngest members of the institute, lit the fourteen candles and extinguished them. The president (Mrs. Claridge) welcomed all members from other institute branches. Thanks and appreciation were extended to Mrs. Sames for icing the cake. Mr. Percy was the M.C. and a Monte Carlo dance • was won by Miss S. Smith and Mr. B. Olsen. The euchre prizes were won by Mrs. McNab and Mrs. Scott. Mrs. Percy was in charge of the cards and Mrs. Claridge . was the doorkeeper.
