AUCKLAND, Juue 26. Student irc has becn aroused at Auckland Univorsity College foilowing receipt by its exetutive of a letter from the chairman of the Professorial Board, Professor A. B. Fitt, tliat with certain cxeeptious,- no studeut publications will be permitted after June 30. The bait arises from an objection by the executive eommittee of the Professorial Board to au article etititled "unusual case, " lainpooniiig Professor Titi, which appcared, in tho 1940 L'nivcrsity revue programmc, While apologising for the publication and regretling tliat a serious view was taken of the article which had nct been intended to give oifence, tho executive of the Students' Association 011 Tuesday night carried a motion expressing strongest resentment at tlie proposal to suspend student publicatious which ii said it would be bound to iight in every way possible. The executive also cousidered tliat the foeling within and without the ('ollego 011 this inatter wus so strong that it was irnwilling to be responsible for the consequences of the uction proposed by tlie executive eommittee ot'.the Professorial Board. ' ' This article should uot have been published, especially in the students' [uiblication and tho eommittee was uuaniiuous in regardiug it as rude, insult iug and likely to give rise to hurt, " states the copy of the letter from the chairman of the Professorial Board, which is posted, together with the miuules of tiie student executive meetting, on the students' nolice board at the College. "As the Students' Association has neglected to safeguard sufliciently its publication privileges, 110 student publication will be peruiitted for 12 mouths from June 80, 194(5, with the exception tliat the next number of "Craocum" will be permitted provided it. contains an apology regardiug tlie publication of the article."
