RAUMATI SOUTH CLUB The report of the Raumati South i Bowling Club for this year is very j gratifying, the committee reporting that the season's activities have been most successful. The year has shown considerqhle improvement to the ground. The membership- was as follows: — Ordinary members 69 as against 64 j for the previous year, associate j members 16 ' as against 9, social t members 14 as against 12. The official opening of the club on October 6 was most successful, and : was carried out by the club's president in the presence of many other bowlers, including several from the , centre. j Four enjoyable -games were play-j ed for the country pennants, won j by the Paekakariki Club. The club I played for the Mexted cup, also won j by Paekakariki.. The Kapiti shield. i presented by Mr. Eatwell, was wonj by Paraparaumu. Visits ^ere made , by the centre players; games were: played with Paraparaumu, Pae- [ kakariki and Otaki, while a visit of J eight rinks from. the Terrace Endi Club was enjoyed. A half-day, as] well as a full-day tournament were | indulged in, and enjoyed. The club competitions. were very] successful, the. winners being:—] Senior singles: K. Morrison; junior singles : F. Smith; pairs: F. Tyrer and E. Frankish (s) ; rinks: Gifford-Moore, Be.er and Hooker (s); Gifford-Moore cup: G. Shore; Committee cup: E. Graham; Freeman hat: G. Shore; Kapiti challenge buttons \-and- the J. C. challenge buttona^/?; .-Lyneh, . G. Shore and K. * Morrrsdfi^s ) *-> ' The committee- expressed pleasure at the conditjon of the green, a good surface being maintained throughout . the season. Eulogistic remarks by visitors have been fully appreciated, and encouraging. Regret was expressed at the illness of the green superintendent, Mr. Alderson. , His untiring efforts were responsible for the fine condition oi the green. Mr. Stan Moffatt carried on as green superintendent till the end"tof the season, and memb.ert were grateful. The splendid work of Mr. J. Gardner was alsc eulogised. The treatment of the green, the report states, was carried out strictly in accordance with the instructions of Mr. Horton, of the Green Research Committee. It is the intention of the club to furthei beautify the grounds during the season. Prior to opening day finishing touches , were given to the pavilion, to which it is now hoped to add a verandah Thanks are extended to Mr. J. Eggers and the refreshment committee for fine work done, and which had been the means of raising much revenue. Reference is also made to the splendid work of the match committee. Thanks are extended to the ladies who so willingly helped in various ways, and to Mr. G. Harden- for his work as auditor. The report' concludes by saying that it is confidently felt that the club is now well established. Outstanding above all has been tne spirit v --of friendship and good fellowship wnich nas existed throughout, and which has made every game of bowls enjoyable. Second Annual Meeting The second annual meeting wili be held on Saturday, when in j accordance with the rules of the i club the committee will present the foilowing nominations:— PresidenL: Mr. W. Receipts and Expenditure The main items are: Debentures] issued £80, subscriptions £244 12s, donations £27 17s, green fees £15 2t, 6d, tournaments £17 ls, refreshments £39 9s 3d. Payments: Clubhouse and buildings £77 ls 8d, green and surrounds, capital £53 3s Id, maintenance £13 ls 5d, labour £146 5s 3d, plant £19 6s 2d, Wellington Centre £12, postage, printing, etc . £16, rates, insurance and lightin^ £15, debenture interest £27 6s, sundry expenses £35.
