H Elwortliy, sald it was the comuiitteo 's hope that permission to race again 011 week days would be grunted as soon as poasible. There was no doubt that long-drawn-out meetings of the major eiubs were iuconvenient to owners, trainers and jpublic. The iiresent system, he said, was profitable not only to the elubs, but also to the Goverumeut, and it was responsible to some extent for the high stakcs. Ou the otlier haud, any reduction iu reveuue, due to a return to normal racing, would be more than compeusated for by the greater coiivenienec aud eujoymeut of pre-war conditious.
