LOCAL AND GENERAL
Personal Mrs. Simmonds, sister of Mr. R. Eaton, is at present an Auckland visitor to Otaki. Mr. H. Jackson has taken up permanent residence at Tasman Beach. Mr. and Mrs. R. Fielding, who have been on a visit to friends in this district, return to Dunedin on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Grant are at present on a motor tour of Auckland, Rotorua and other places in the north. Flight-Lieutenant Arthur Mana, of Suva and late of Otaki, has been Mentioned in Despatches in recognition of services rendered in the South Pacific area. Mr. and Mrs. W. Lithgow, of Auckland, are at present on a visit to Otaki renewing acquaintance with their many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Lithgow are accompanied by Mr. Lang, also of Auckland. • The death occurred on Monday at the Wellington Hospital of Mr. Thomas Twist, of Plimmerton. The deceased gentleman was 78 years of age. He was a brother of the late Mr. A. E. Twist, of Otaki, and was a well-known sporting writer-. . Memorial Hall for Otaki Considerable interest is being -taken in the proposed memorial hall at Otaki, and a further meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 3, to give consideration to the project. The Civic Theatre will be used for the meeting, it being expected that there will be a large attendance.
