POWER SHUT-DOWNS IN AUCKLAND

AUCKLAND, June 24. 8hut-downs of electric power throughout 10 areas of tlie Auckland Electric Power Board's district, will be made for half an liour every day this week as the result of a decision reached at a meeting of the Board. Power was cut off over these areas tonight and the samc proccdure will be repcated daily until the end of Ihe week. "It is diflicult to get reductions made voluntarilv," said Ihe chairman, Mr. Trwin Crookes, in moving that these shut-downs should be introduced. "It has been a hard struggle during the past, week to keep. down our load. It has been a difficult period lieeause the shortest day occurred in it."
