W. Cozens. Particulars and figures relating to the following industries gre set out hereunder, the vacancies in each industry, where they exist, pping shown in parenthesis'. — Building and construction, mal,es 898 (47), females 16; building and construction (Government departments) , males 359, females 12; air transport, males 106, females 6 (1) ; hairdressing, etc., males 35 (1), females 73 (1); medical, dental and allied services, males 13, females 13; hygienic services, males 13; education and instructton, males 16, females 43; and Government -services, males 2254 " (1577" females 799 (9). The figures in relation to building and construction are interestipg from the point of view tha]t a comparison can be made with the total figures obtained from a similar survey, as at Ja.nuary 31 last. Upon that date the overall total exceeded the present figures by 81 employees in the industry. The figures shown in relation to medical and dental services are for employees only. practitioners themselves being excluded. Government service figures a're high because of the inclusion of the major departments — railways, post office and education.
