ATHLETIC'S LUCKY WIN
When Athletic and Foxton seniors met in the first round of the competition they drew three-all, but their second round encounter on. Saturday saw Athletic gain a lucky win by a penalty goal, the' only points of the game. The game throughout was played at a fast clip and very little separated the two teams. Neither side drew blood in • the first half, and it was not until well into the second spell that W. Galloway succeeded in getting a penalty kick over from a handy position. Foxton tried desperately to get ahead on points, and though they held territorial advantage in the latter stages, the Athletic j defence held. Mr. J. A. Zuppicich was the referee. W. Galloway gave a sparkling exhibition in the Athletic rear- j guard, and was perhaps the best back on the field. Of the forwards Corbishley and Bartholomew were always on the ball, arid were a tower of strength to the Athletic pack. The Foxton full-back, W. Winiata, turned in a sound display, and time and again his judicious line kicking gained much ground for his side. . ,
