A major step towards tlie operational stage oi the World Bank was taken today when the President, Mr. Engene Meyer, annoimced the sch edale of calls 011 member nations for fitnds wherewith the Bank will conduet its direet lending business. The Bank by August 24 will have collected 153,000,000 dollars in gold or American dollars. By November 25 it will have collected 767,000,000 dollars iij all types of curreneies.
