Yfost of them escaped while working unguarded 011 farms or at hostels. Tnvestigations of casos where prisoners had been reeaptured revealed that rnanv eseapees were assisted " or harl.oured bv civilians. Prosecutions arising out of such ol'feuees wouid be pursued rigorously.
