OYERSEER'S MONTHLY REPORT The mo'ntlily report of the overset'f submitted to a rd;ent meeting of the Hutt County Council read (inter alia) as follows: — "Periods of wet weather were experienced, 'causing slips in the Wainuiomata and Epuni ridings. Traffie showed signs of increasing during the-week-end periods, no doubt on account of the contemplated lifting of the oil fuel rationing regulations. "Kapiti riding: General road sur face repairs were carried out in all parts of the riding. The . sealed surfaces in the Paekakariki and Paraparaumu areas were patched. Widening was carried out at Marine Parade, Paraparaumu Beach. The Esplanade, Raumati Soum, and McLean Street, Paraparaumu Beach, were tar primed. Beach erosion (northern section) is progressively making, the southern section remaining the same. Beach water supply is functioning satisfactorily. "Whareroa Riding: General road surface repairs were carried out h all parts of the riding. Grading and scarifying was carried out ir. the Game Farm Road and Paraparaumu township areas. "Building permits issued in Jun totalled 54, 26 applicaltions for ne\ dwellings to the value of £40,15 being received, or in all £40,164 including additions, etc. 'For th corresponding month last ve permits for 26 buildings, valued a £15,570 were issued. ■ "Two cases of scarlet fever, oir at Point Howard and the other a Whiteman's Vailey, and one case o. cerebro-spinal meningitis at Pae kakariki were the only notification of infectious disease received anc reported upon for this month."
